seattle

Edwin & I would like to take his parents to Seattle this weekend. Therefore, I'm trying to book a hotel in Seattle currently for one night (July 26 to July 27) and it is SO expensive! I've tried "name your own price" on Priceline, Hotwire, Expedia, Airbnb, googling "cheap hotels in seattle", looking at maps to find other places, and many other things...

Does anyone have any tips for booking a decent hotel for one night in Seattle? Preferably no motel and relatively close to downtown Seattle.

I'm getting frustrated as it feels like I'm either going to be staying in a dumpy hotel or we won't be staying the night as it's too expensive!

Thanks for letting me vent. Happy Thursday!

thankful tuesday

I have lots of things to be thankful for in my life!

Amanda & I went dingying on Sunday at Rolley Lake. It's not huge, but the nice thing is that there are no motor boats allowed, so the lake is calm. It also wasn't too busy which was nice.

This is dingying. We lay in inflatable boats for hours in the water. It's glorious.

This is so peaceful. Also, it was really hot so we swam in the water and just floated around. Definitely recommended. I'm very thankful for water and to live in such a nice place!!

My dad & my brother have been car shopping for my sister for weeks now, and I think they've looked at every single Ford Escape in the Lower Mainland at this point. They've worked really hard to find the perfect one! This is one of the many photos my brother sent in our "FamJam" Whatsapp group - I liked that he was taking selfies in the test vehicles. Speaking of, did you know that we have a family Whatsapp group? I'm not exaggerating when I say that probably not two hours goes by (except during the night) when a message isn't being sent. It is pretty great! I love my family and am very thankful for them.

Yesterday I got to visit with Heidi, Tim, Jack and their new little twins. Jack and I sat on the floor and ate watermelon. So yummy.

I snuggled Julia for a while and she just slept and slept. Her dark hair looks similar to Jack's when he was born, who now has super blonde hair! I didn't take a photo with Harrison yesterday - whoops! More selfies needed next time.

How adorable is this little face? And all those teeth?! Too cute. I'm very thankful for this family!

I'm thankful that Edwin's parents are here and that they are really, really kind. I'm excited for them to officially be my in-laws! Here, Edwin is explaining which river this is in Fort Langley.

Lastly, I'm thankful for cool things around the internet: (kinda lame, but seriously! I really, really enjoy just browsing and reading articles, learning things, laughing at pictures, etc.)

"How a Password Changed My Life" - the power of positivity.

23 products you need in your life. (#12 = GENIUS)

Cute new lulu product - the runsie. Me gusta! I also really enjoyed this review on it. Worth a look!

Wow, bad joke today! (Ferf - take note. People apparently joke about these kind of things...)

Happy Tuesday!

hola!

I apologize for the neglect on my dear blog these days. There has been a lot going on between moving, Edwin's parents coming in from Guatemala, Heidi having twins, Edwin's birthday, and many other things in between. Want to see pictures? I thought you'd never ask!

Have I ever told you I am really no good at assembling Ikea things? I just have no patience for it and it's annoying non-readable picture-only instructions. I did about half of a chair in the time the boys each did 2.

Good job boys! Love these stools at the island.

Moving was a weekend process. Edwin had his apartment until July 1, and we got possession on June 28. So a few days overlapped, and this was our last meal at his apartment. Pretty fancy, eh? Please note that there are no plates or utensils either. Only celery & a tupperware lid.

The view from Edwin's apartment on the 30th floor was pretty darn nice. I really liked the apartment overall actually! But we now have MUCH more space in our new house.

These signs were my fave in his apartment: "Exit on left like England"

...and once you exited: "Resume on right like Canada"

Welcome to our new home! The view from the front door. Love it so much.

Our family room couch came too long in error. A new one is being and will get to us in a few weeks! Until then, you need to go through the kitchen to get around the island. C'est la vie.

My daddio & bro are SUPER helpful when it comes to assembling things - this is our dining room table that weighed 152 pounds!

I like yellow.

Yay! Andrew installed a microwave for us! The house came with a heavy duty fan installed instead of the microwave, and we had to get it replaced. Andrew to the rescue!!

...I have a lot of books....

We added some color into our room! Coral pillows.

The main floor bathroom.

Trying to decide where things should go on the walls....

At my parents for Sunday dinners. Pants & Odie like to play together.

Heidi & Tim had baby twins on Monday, July 7! Welcome to the world Harrison & Julia. Oh man, how adorable are they??? Twins?? TOO CUTE! This picture makes me so so so happy. Everyone is doing well!

Harrison & Julia with grandma & grandpa Klassen.

Happy birthday (as of yesterday) to the love of my life!

Edwin's parents are in town as of Wednesday. Today we went to Fort Langley.

The boys are both fascinated by the train. And stand very similarly! Like father like son.

Edwin & I.
GUESS WHO I GET TO SEE IN LESS THAN 3 WEEKS!!!! Regina, here come the Spiers! And then Smithers, here come the Spier siblings! These cities won't know what hit 'em.

moving

We officially live in our new (town) house!! We got possession of it on Saturday and had it painted on Saturday/Sunday/Monday. We moved all our stuff in on Monday, and have been unpacking ever since! (Did you know moving is this much work?! Wow!)

This was our first meal at the house on Monday - Taco Bell. Classy!

I love our new home so much! I'm enjoying putting things where they belong (especially in the kitchen) and cleaning things so they look & smell like new. We've gotten quite a bit done over the last few days, with LOTS of help from my fam, and there's still a few things left to do. (My brother says he's never assembling Ikea furniture again...)

I'm off from work this week which is nice to continue to organize - today I'm waiting for some furniture from the Brick to get delivered. Yay, we will have couches today!! (It's like Christmas Day waiting for this delivery!)

I'm just doing this quick blog post from my phone since I'm not too sure where my iphone cord is to be able to upload photos to my computer.... Lots more to come later!!

I cooked my first meal in this kitchen yesterday - kraft dinner! (We still didn't have many groceries... And let's face it, it's just plain old delicious...) (Oh, and I cut up the one vegetable we had in the house - 1/2 a green pepper. What's a meal without vegetables??!!)

This was my project from this morning - organizing the closet. It's not fully done yet but it's well on its way.

Our garbage just got picked up! That was cool. This whole organics/recycle and organics/garbage will take some getting used to!

Hope you had a good Canada day! Edwin & I went out for dinner last night to Cactus Club to celebrate our anniversary. (It was delicious.) This has been a pretty darn good year if you ask me!! Love you lots, Edwin :)
